Donating Collections

The La Jolla Historical Society welcomes and encourages donations of historically significant materials associated with La Jolla's heritage. We collect materials and objects in a wide range of formats and media, including books, newspapers, magazines, maps, printed ephemera, manuscripts, scrapbooks, architectural drawings, and three-dimensional objects (artifacts). These collections are maintained as primary resources, and made available for research. Donating personal or organizational/business records allows us to increase the breadth and depth of our resources to better serve the research needs of patrons for generations to come.

Due to the scope of the Society's mission and limitations in storage space, we usually are unable to accept unsolicited donations of collections. However, we encourage you to contact the Archivist by phone at (858) 459-5335 or by email to make an appointment to discuss the process and benefits of donating collections to the Society.
