November 2, 2007) – The La Jolla Historical Society is seeking 3 to 4 high school juniors and seniors interested in volunteering some of their time to assist its archivist with special projects including light administrative duties. Intern credit will be given.
For a period of 6 months, students can hone their skills with competitive computer and basic office duties that includes photo digitalization and photo-shop manipulation, data entry, collection processing and maintenance, and research for Historic Designation.
Of course, the Historical Society is always interested in those in the community who wish to volunteer their time in addition to interns.
The Historical Society’s Archivist Heather Kuhn said, “Basically all volunteers and interns should be able to commit to at least 3 hours per week for a period of six months. Specific time and days will be worked out on an individual basis between the volunteers and me.” This criterion would also apply to interns.
“Students would be engaged in important resume-building projects that also have direct and immediate benefits for their community,” Kuhn said.
Those interested are invited to contact the La Jolla Historical Society located at 7846 Eads Avenue at (858) 459-5335. www.lajollahistory.org.
