Feasting on History

Celebrating La Jolla's Past with Friends and Repast

(August 22, 2008) – A movable feast is the only way to describe gourmet appetizers starting in some of La Jolla’s magnificent or historic homes, moving to others for the main course, and on to a third for dessert. “Feasting on History,” the first progressive dinner presented by the La Jolla Historical Society, will take place on Saturday, September 13th beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The dinner starts with hors d'oeuvres offered in homes with sweeping ocean views formerly owned by a newspaper publisher, or an Irving Gill-designed craftsman residence, or a rambling hillside hacienda. Venues for the main course include a Tom Shepherd designed former Showcase home, or a stylish La Jolla Farms home owned by a well-traveled explorer, or perhaps a cliffside Lillian Rice English country home.

The evening will conclude with dessert and coffee at the Historical Society’s newly donated historic Wisteria Cottage. Due to the randomization of guests, special venue requests cannot be accommodated, and will be revealed with mailed confirmation of your reservation.

Reservations for this exclusive evening are limited and must be received no later than September 2nd. Mail payments of $225 per Historical Society member and $250 per non-members to Feasting on History, 1600 Ludington Lane, La Jolla 92037. Reservations are honored as received.
